Who we are.
Premier League Futsal is Kitchener-Waterloo's first and only authentic futsal league. We were built by local coaches and families who wanted the real game: FIFA rules, licensed referees, proper standings and a season that ends with a championship worth winning.
Our story
PLF started with a simple frustration: winter football in our region meant boarded arenas, oversized balls and pick-up games with no standings. Nothing that resembled the futsal used by the best academies in the world. So we built it ourselves, in local gyms, with licensed officials and a real competitive structure.
Today the league runs divisions from Premier to Futbolito, hosts sanctioned clubs alongside unattached players placed under Waterloo County FC, and plays weekly at Rim Park and school gyms across Waterloo Region. Every match is tracked, every goal counted, every champion recorded.
What we stand for

Every match is officiated by licensed referees so results, standings and discipline actually mean something.

The history of futsal
1930s
Futsal is born in Montevideo, Uruguay, when teacher Juan Carlos Ceriani adapts football for basketball courts and gymnasiums.
1950s–80s
The game spreads across South America and Europe. Brazil turns futsal into the foundation of its player development, producing Pelé, Ronaldinho and Messi-era technicians.
1989
FIFA takes over the world championship and futsal becomes the only indoor five-a-side game recognised under official FIFA Laws.
Today
Futsal is played in more than 170 countries, and remains the fastest way to build first touch, close control and decision-making under pressure.
